Egg Scramble

Yesterday our church had its annual Egg Scramble.  They had 1200 kids attend with their families.  We had 3 different fenced off areas set up for the egg hunt.  I helped with the 5-7 year olds.  We put out 2 garbage bags of eggs each round and I think we did 15 different hunts.  Each round there was one golden egg.  The kid who got the golden egg, received a special prize.  McDonald's donated goodie bags for the golden egg winners.

In addition to the egg hunt, there was a food tent, inflatables, face painting, and petting zoo.  The whole event was well planned out and organized.  Set-up and clean-up were very efficient.

A fun time was had by all.

Girlfriends Getaway

My mom texted me a few days ago to see if I wanted to meet her and the girlfriends in Champaign on Friday night.  Her friend Judy was teaching a weekend class (Friday night/Saturday), so they were meeting early for dinner.  We left at 3pm and drove down to Champaign.  We met them at Holy Land, a mediterranean restaurant where they were having dinner.  My mom know that Kileigh and I wouldn't like it, so we went to Minneci's, an italian restaurant.  We ordered breaded zucchini as an appetizer.  My mom got a salad and I got clam chowder, which was homemade, but kind of spicy.  For her entree, my mom ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and I ordered spinach tortellini with pesto sauce.  The food was really good, but the portions were large.  I even ordered the smaller size, but we had to take our leftovers to go.  We went back to the hotel and swim in the pool.  It was quite cool, so we took Kileigh in the hot tub, which was bath water temperature.  She loved it!  My mom gave her a bath and put her to bed and then we went next door to hang out with Joy and Judy in their hotel room.

Joy, Judy, and I worked out in the fitness center this morning, while my mom entertained and fed Kileigh.  We showered and then had breakfast.  This was probably the best hotel breakfast I have seen.  French toast, biscuits and gravy, cook your own waffles, toast, bagels, fresh cut fruit, muffins, pastries, cereal, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, juice, and coffee.  After breakfast, we loaded the cars and headed to Kohls.  They were giving away Kohls cash if you spent $50 or more, so we were looking for some good deals.  We found some good deals.  I found several picture frames in the clearance section for $5.99 each.  I also got an Easter wall hanging and some Easter towels & potholders for the kitchen.  Kevin wanted a chaps dress shirt in a darker blue than he normally can find.  I picked one up for him because it was on sale for $25, which is much cheaper than they normally run.  I found an outfit for Kileigh that says Mommy's little girl in pink and navy.  I really like that combination of colors together.  I picked up a sleeper for my friend's baby as well.  All in all, I got some good bargains.  After shopping, we had lunch at Red Lobster and then got on the road.  My mom had to get back to Mattoon for work and Kevin was anxious to see us.

When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised that Kevin had cleaned the house.  It looked so nice that I was afraid to mess it up when I got home that I brought it one bag at a time to put things away.  I brought up my tub of Easter stuff from the basement and found some St. Patrick's Day towels that I got at Kohls the last time I was there.  I put one in each bathroom.  I am looking for a St. Patrick's Day table runner and the light-up shamrocks for our living room windows.  We have looked at Walgreens, Target, and Jewel and none of those places have them.  I have been really good about not ordering anything from Terry's Village in a long time, so Kevin said I can get a few things.  Most of our holiday decorations and some of our everyday decorations around the house are from there.

As I was putting everything away, Kevin came home from paintballing and after he took a shower, we took Kileigh for a walk in the neighborhood.  We came home and had pot roast for dinner.  Then we ran a couple errands, came home, put Kileigh to bed, and are now going to watch Fireproof.  I love that movie.
