New happenings

This past week a lot of good things happened to us.  First, Kevin found out last week that he got a HUGE raise and we are both thrilled, because it will really help out with bills and help us not to stress out.

Second, I a found a job.  On Friday night, I received an email from a woman who I had interviewed with a few weeks back and never had heard anything official.  She asked if I was still available to start Monday.  Recently Kevin and I had discussed my not taking that job because of all the driving.  The next day I kind of changed my mind thinking that if I took the job, it would pay my car payment (even though with Kevin's raise I wouldn't have to get a job) and give me something to do during the day.  However, I never heard anything back and was wondering what was going on.  This morning I received an email saying that she wasn't starting a new job today like she anticipated and would call me when she needed me.  Within an hour, I had received a call from a flight attendant that I had spoken with a week ago.  She had to fire her nanny and needed a replacement to start ASAP.  I wasn't expecting something prior to October, so I was surprised.  She came over to meet us and brought her daughters who are 3 and 4.  Through our conversation, we came to discover that we both go to Assemblies of God churches and that really seemed to ease her mind with entrusting her daughters in my care, besides the fact that my husband works the same company and I understand the airline industry.  So I will be working Wednesday-Friday starting September 1st.  She has to bid her trips, so there is flexibility there in case I need time off for vacations or family stuff.

In the past couple weeks, we have reconnected with some old friends from when we lived here prior.  I met a new mom who I will be doing some babysitting for in the future.  I babysat on Friday for a couple who just moved to the area and doesn't have any family around.  We move next week, so we are really excited to sign the lease and get settled into our new place with all our stuff.  Last but not least, we found a new church and are feeling right at home.  We are taking a class called Next Step AAOG 101, which will teach us more about the history and vision of the church and is a pre-requisite for becoming members.
